Does pouring the broth off of vegetable soup reduce the sodium intake?

I like the fact that soups like Progresso and Healthy Harvest have a wealth of vegetables. I have actually been feeding a serving to my 13 month old so she can get a good amount of soft tender veggies. The sodium content of canned food is always high, even the lower sodium kind. I was wondering if I forego the broth and just eat the grains and veggies, have I lowered the sodium intake anymore. I know this works with canned beans.
