How does one have a Christian wedding outside of church?
I’ve been engaged for a while (2 years). I want to get married but my fiancé’s church is pretty much ignoring our attempts. We wanted to go about this the best way we could; talk to the priest, go to premarriage counseling, whatever else he would suggest. But our church doesn’t seem to care. They haven’t answered any of our 5 requests to talk to the priest in the past two months. When we mention it they act like we are putting them out. Certainly not like we are one of their valued members. So I don’t want to have it there anymore, not if their going to treat us like we are an inconvenience to them. But I still want to have my wedding with some sort of religious official presiding over it. How can I manage that? Are there churches that will marry us without us being part of the congregation? If so, how would I find them? If not, what would you guys suggest is a better alternative?
