I would try the Larsen a/d, Jager G/C combo. It should provide a nice even sounding tone. However every instrument is different, so if it doesn't produce a tone you like once the strings have settled, just experiment. Don't be affraid! also you will find that if you change your A string about every 6months it will help keep the tone 'alive' rather than dead sounding, its amazing how different a cello can sound with such little change.
