I heard from someone that this guy I like is a player, and just wants to get some. What do I do?

Okay, this guy Devon and I like each other. Right now I'm just friends with him until things go further but he told me he already liked me and would kick a$$ for me. I know he cares from me but today I heard from one of his friends that he just wants to get some pu$sy. He has only had one time from what he told me. I trust him about that to. He said that he wouldn't take advantage of me, and that he doesn't want to pressure me into anything. He just turned 17, and I'm about to be 16. Should I confront him about what I heard, but not tell him who I heard it from him, or should I just leave it alone? I really like this guy :///
